"I might be just like you. Except from the time when I was a little girl, I knew that I could talk to the dead. Earthbound spirits, my mother called them. They're stuck here because they have unfinished business with the living and they come to me for help. In order to tell you my story; I have to tell you theirs."
Eden Cullen, born Eden Charlotte Masen in 1905, is a vampire and the younger biological sister of Edward Cullen (born Edward Masen Jr.). She is a member of the Olympic Coven. Eden is the biological daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Masen, and the adoptive daughter to Carlisle and Esme Cullen, as well as the adoptive sister to Emmett and Alice Cullen, and Jasper and Rosalie Hale. She is also the sister-in-law of Bella Swan, and the biological aunt of Renesmee Cullen.
Elizabeth Masen, Eden's mother, was one of many generations of women in her family that possessed an unusual gift of communicating with the dead. It was passed down through the women of the family, and so when Eden was born, she was granted the gift of speaking to the dead. Eden knew at a young age of her gift, due to the fact that Elizabeth talked about the spirits so openly around her only daughter. When Elizabeth died of the Spanish Influenza, her spirit visited Eden before passing on.
TAKE A LONG HARD LOOK INTO MY REAR VIEW MIRROR AT THE DARKENED PATH THAT LEFT ME BROKEN AND BLIND
Eden was born on August 18, 1905, in Chicago Illinois to Elizabeth and Edward Masen. She was the first born daughter, and the youngest of the Masen children, and was treasured dearly. She grew up in an old-fashioned family life style, where she constantly tried to be like those of her family. Her father provided Eden was many advantages as a successful lawyer, including music lessons, and the opportunity to attend a private school. Because of her father's busy career, Eden and he were emotionally distant. She did not receive the love and comfort that many other children received from their fathers. Although this upsetting Eden, she did not let it get the best of her, as her father's absence was made up for by her relationship with her mother, and elder brother, Edward. Eden got along tremendously with her brother, despite the large age difference. Edward would often play songs on the piano for Eden while she danced about the room, which eventually promoted Edward to write his first song, 'Eden's Lullaby'.
In 1913 when Eden was three, she came face to face with death as she accidentally slipped and fell into a stream just a few yards within the forest behind their house. Edward, who was supposed to be watching Eden since their parents were at an evening party, rushed to the scene and pulled her out of the water. Eden was unconscious for a long time and was thought to be dead for a few moments. Surprisingly, she survived, and spend the next few days with a terrible cold.
I'LL NEVER KNOW WHERE IT WENT WRONG, SO I WON'T TRY AGAIN
Sadly enough, one tragic day when Eden was eight years old, news came in that her best friend, Rose, was terribly sick. The adults never fully told Eden what was wrong as she was still too young to understand. Unknown to Eden, Rose had only been given a few days to live. The days flew past just like minutes and before Eden knew it, her best friend has passed into the night. She was in class during the time her school teacher had revealed to the class that Rose wouldn't be coming back. Eden was stricken with grief after hearing the news. However much to her surprise, Rose was just standing on the side of the classroom. She stood there, silent as anyone could. Eden's face broke into a wide smile and told everyone in the class that Rose wasn't gone. Those who asked what she was talking about, Eden simple laughed and pointed to Rose. Except, to the students around her - and her teacher - only saw thin air. Eden was taken home later that day. Her teacher had suggested that her parents did so, just to allow Eden time to grief for her closest friend. That night when she was home, Eden couldn't stop talking about Rose to her parents.
That night, while Edward was too caught up in his work and Eden's brother was fast asleep, Elizabeth finally explained the truth to her youngest and only daughter. For many generations, the women in Elizabeth's family had possessed the gift to see and communicate with spirits. This talent of medium ship meant that Eden was able to see the spirits of people who had died and not yet been able to cross over. She was given this gift to help those people, and guide them into the light. It was why she had been able to see her friend Rose after she died. Despite being fairly young, Eden was smart enough to understood everything her mother told her. Elizabeth became Eden's mentor on handling her gift. She taught Eden what she needed to know to control her gift; how to know if the person she was looking at was a ghost or a human. Half the time Eden didn't know whether she was talking to someone who was dead or alive. Most of the ghost Eden would see wouldn't look like the same as their corpse as the day they died. Elizabeth warned Eden not to tell her father and brother about her gift, as well as to kept it a secret from others who might mistake her for a witch. However although Elizabeth warned Eden not to tell a living soul about her talent, she also told Eden to never feel ashamed of her talent and that it was a gift sent from the heavens.
Over the years, Eden became more and more comfortable in using her gift. On a few occasions, Eden was successful in guiding spirits into the light. Helping lost souls was something that Eden adored. She believed her mother's words and never felt ashamed of her gift; she was proud of it. However she also lived by her mother's word and swore to never tell anyone about her gift.
I'LL SURRENDER TO THE SIMPLE THOUGHT OF LOOSING EVERYTHING
As she grew up, Eden wanted to become a school teacher. That changed however when Edward, her parents, and herself became sick from the Spanish Influenza in 1918. Her father, Edward Masen Sr, died in the first wave of the influenza. Shortly after Elizabeth Masen died, Edward was taken by Dr.Carlisle Cullen - a vampire who posed as the doctor helping the Masen family - who then turned him into a vampire. Unlike the rest of her family, Eden survived the Spanish Influenza but tragically, was left orphaned. Being at such a young age of thirteen, Eden was sent to live with another family; Mr and Mrs Davison. They were a nice elderly couple who took Eden in with open arms. She mourned the loss of her family, and couldn't understand why she had survived and they had died. She felt as though their death was partly her fault.
A few days after hearing the tragic news that her family had passed away, Eden received the shock of her life when she saw her mother standing before her - as a spirit. She'd look just as she did before, except that her skin was slightly paler than it usually was - a clear sign that Elizabeth had passed away from sickness. She told Eden that she was not to blame herself for what happened. Tears flooding Eden's eyes, she couldn't bring herself to guide her mother into the light. She knew that it was the right thing to do, but she was terrified of being alone. Elizabeth comforted Eden, stating that she knew exactly how she felt but she shouldn't let her fear overcome her. After a tearful final moments, Eden watched as her mother disappeared from her sight. It took Eden many years before she finally came to terms and accepted that her family was gone, and that they weren't coming back. Her adoptive parents raised Eden with such love and respect that on a few occasions she accidentally referred to them as 'Mom' and 'Dad'.
SHE'S THE VOICE I HEAR WHEN I'M SLIPPING OUT OF REASON
Sometime in 1922, Aro was made aware of Eden and her unusual ability to speak and communicate with the dead through the thoughts of a visiting nomad. Assuming that her gift of being able to communicate to the 'Land of the Dead' would add to his power, power hungry Aro sent Felix and Demetri to 'collect' Eden and bring her to Volterra. There, she was bitten by Aro himself and transformed into a vampire. Like any vampire, Eden suffered three days of excruciating pain. Each heartbeat her heart gave out could only push the venom so far. On the third day, when the fire finally dulled, Eden awoke as a vampire. Much to Aro's satisfaction, Eden's medium ship abilities were enhanced greatly after being transformed into a vampire. She was able to see the history or memories of the spirits as well as receive visions from them, some of which held information about the future or past - thus making her a rather powerful medium. Her gift was also enhanced in the sense that she gained a form of astral projection - a rare gift that allows the user to project their spirit into things that are related to ghost or the land of the dead. With her connection to the spirit world, Aro ordered Chelsea to tie Eden's bonds to the Volturi, where she stayed with them for many years to come. She quickly became one of Aro's most prized possessions, almost as prized as Jane and Alec even though her gift didn't allow her to inflict pain or dull sense on a victim. But it was rather her connection to the dead, and her gift to communicate with them that impressed Aro, as he had always sensed that the spirits of the deceased would hold information about the past or future.
Being such a gentle soul in her human life, Eden found it difficult feeding on human blood. She hated having to kill in order to survive. On a few occasions, she would attempt to starve herself - refusing to feed on a human and kill them. However Eden's attempts to starve were only short lasted whenever Heidi would bring in humans she had 'fished' to the Volturi. Eden would always see the spirits of the victims wonder about the halls of the Volterra. She tried to ignore them as best as she could when she was in the presence of the Volturi, but their screams and pleas for help made it torment for Eden to ignore them. When she was alone, she would attempt to guide them into the light. Knowing that she was doing some form of good by helping souls into the light gave Eden a sense of hope that perhaps she wasn't in hell, that she wasn't doomed.
SHE TOOK FROM ME THE CAUSE I THOUGHT I'D NEVER DENY
Eden spent the next 105 years serving the Volturi, abiding their every rule and following every order that Aro gave her. Although she wanted to leave, knowing that her family were gone and that everyone she had ever loved was now dead, Eden felt almost terrified to leave in sense that she would be alone. And so, Eden forced herself to remain loyal to the Volturi. After Edward - Eden's older brother - mistakenly learns from Rosalie that Bella has committed suicide based on a vision Alice had of Bella cliff diving, Edward becomes completely broken and attempts to convince the Volturi to kill him by explaining that he has broken one of the most important vampire laws; telling a human (Bella) about the existence of vampires. Aro is the first to notice the strong resemblance Edward hold towards Eden and after reading his thoughts, discovers that Edward and Eden are actually brother and sister. When Edward leaves to step out into the sunlight and reveal himself to the humans, which would break another one of the Volturi laws and therefore force them to kill him, Alice and Bella show up just in time to stop him. After Felix, Demetri and Jane bring Edward, Bella and Alice, it was then that Eden finally discovered that Edward was alive, and had been a vampire since being infected with the Spanish Influenza in 1918. Eden was shocked and ecstatic to find that her brother, Edward, had been alive all these years. Seeing his baby sister alive, though a vampire and a member of the Volturi, caused Edward to question his actions. Eden pleaded Aro to let her go with her brother, but Aro was hestiate on letting her go because he treasured her talent dearly. However, Aro eventually allowed Eden to leave Volterra and return with her brother to live among the Olympic Coven.
I LET YOU WRITE INTO MY DREAMS HOPING YOU'D NEVER WALK AWAY, AND I BLAME YOU FOR IT
Upon returning to Forks with Edward, Bella and Alice, Eden was welcomed into the Cullen family with open arms. As soon as she returned, Eden revealed to Edward the truth about herself and their mother - about how she had been able to communicate with the spirits of the deceased and that it was passed down through the women of the family. Eden also told Edward that Aro had taken interest in her talent and that he turned her himself. Though Edward was furious that his sister had been damned into eternal damnation of being a vampire, he was ecstatic to learn that she had been alive all these years and would be for many years to come - just like himself. She quickly learnt that her new family fed on the blood of animals rather than humans to survive. Eden was grateful to learn that not all vampires were sadistic and that some even held compassion towards the life of human beings. However due to her life with the Volturi, and spending over a century feasting upon human blood, it became difficult for Eden to adapt to her new diet. She slipped a number of times, which promoted her to question if this lifestyle was right for her, and even decided on leaving. However with the support and love from her family - especially Edward - Eden managed to stick to the animal diet, and within months, her eyes shifted from a crimson red colour to a golden brown.
MEDIUM SHIP
"Would you relax, Edward?! If Bella had died then I would have seen her spirit, but I didn't and I don't see it. She's going to be fine, and before you know it, her transformation is going to be over. Trust me."
- Eden comforting Edward during Bella's transformation into a vampire.
Elizabeth Masen was just one of many women in her family that possessed the gift to see and communicate with the deceased, (ghosts and spirits). The talent only passes from mother to daughter, and so when Eden was born, she was granted this unique ability. As a young child, Eden was always able to see and speak to spirits. She didn't have knowledge about this gift until her best friend passed away and she saw her spirit, which promoted Elizabeth to tell the truth to her youngest and only daughter. Although Elizabeth told Eden to keep quiet about her gift around other people, she always told Eden to never be ashamed of what she was; a ghost whisperer. When Eden was changed into a vampire, her medium ship was enhanced, allowing Eden to see the history or memories of the spirits as well as receive visions from them - some of which included information about the past and future; thus making her a rather powerful medium. Eden also possesses a form of astral projection, which allows the user to protect their spirit into things that are related to ghosts. It is because of her astral projection that promotes Carlisle's beliefs that vampires do have souls, as Eden wouldn't have been able to use her gift if she held no spirit/soul.
Physical Appearance:
Eden is noted to be the splitting image of her brother, Edward - the two of them often being mistaken for being twins. She is described by Bella as being extremely beautiful, just like all vampires. Her skins is hard as marble, very pale, ice cold, and sparkles in the sunlight as though a thousand diamonds have been embedded into her skin. Her facial features are said to be perfect - high cheekbones, straight nose, and full lips. Eden has long wavy bronze hair that she inherited from her mother, Elizabeth Masen, just like her brother Edward. Her eyes, once an emerald green, are now a crimson red. However since joining the Cullen family and adapting to the animal diet, her eyes eventually turned to a golden brown colour. Her appearance changes if she goes long without feeding; her eyes darken, becoming onyx black, and purple bruise-like shadows appear beneath her eyes. She is remaining frozen physically at 17, though she is technically over a hundred.
"I felt my jaw drop in astonishment as my eyes met hers. Every feature she held was Edward's - her eyes, her lips, her bronze hair - everything that she possessed was Edward's. They could have been twins for all I knew with the strong resemblance they possessed to one another. I motioned my gaze towards Edward, and saw that he was staring at her with shock and confusion. 'He knew her.' Only one word escaped his lips."
"Eden?"
- Bella in New Moon after seeing Eden for the very first time.
When Renesmee (Eden's niece) is born, she is repeatedly commented to look very similar, if not, exactly like her aunt Eden. In The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, Eden is referred to as the "twin of the red-headed mind reader" by Bree Tanner. When Eden returns to Forks, she and Edward pose as twins because of their similar age and very striking appearance.
Personality:
Eden is noted to be a very warm individual, despite all the year she spent serving the Volturi and feasting upon human blood. She is said to be stubborn and strong willed at times. She has a very bright personality, and is constantly commented to have a very warm aura about her - something that helps attract spiritual beings to her so she can help them. Eden puts her free time to use since vampires do not sleep. She employs the night hours reading books, playing video games with her adoptive brother Emmett, or trying out the latest fashion/make-up with her adoptive sister, Alice. Eden enjoys listening to a wide range of music, stating at one time that she enjoys listening to anything that catches her mood. However, she enjoys to make jokes about her brother's choice in music.
Because they are biological siblings, Edward and Eden share a private and separate bond to those of their family. The sibling bond they had during their human years was only increased when they became a vampire. They are noted to be extremely protective of each other, just like everyone else in the family. They both have a passion for music, in which Eden enjoys playing the piano with her older brother.
© I own Eden Charlotte Masen and her bio. This is an original character that I have made up completely by myself. She is not, and will never be in the actual Twilight Saga books/movie. This is simply a bio for a roleplay account. If anyone is so stupid enough to copy her, I will get my pogostick and hunt you down. Don't say I didn't warn you.
